Chevy is an elegant German Shepherd whose foster mom describes as gentle and responsive. He is a dog that loves to learn and play, and likes cuddling when the mood strikes.
Chevy gets along well with children but he is a big boy with long legs who can sometimes be too much for smaller kids. That being said, he would do well in a calm home so older children might be a better bet for him. He loves playing ball and chewing on his chew toys. He walks and runs well on a leash, understands ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’ and ‘go to bed’. He loves working on his agility skills.
Chevy enjoys having family and friends over to the house, but he is uncertain of people who wear hats or sunglasses. He recovers quickly when these items are removed whereupon he will take treats and begin asking for attention.
He is not a fan of loud, sudden noises like fireworks or sirens, yet recovers fairly quickly after these occurrences. Chevy is well behaved in the house and likes to spend time peacefully with his ‘hedgehog’, a favorite stuffed animal. During a recent storm, Chevy would not come inside because his beloved hedgehog was stuck under the dog bed and he refused to abandon it alone in the rain.
Along with sudden noises, Chevy is not partial to taking a bath, although he somehow loves the water hose. He also avoids rain gutters or anything that makes a hollow water sound.
Chevy is completely crate-trained, which he views as a sanctuary where he can take refuge when he chooses and will also go when asked by his humans. He is accustomed to eating his meals in his crate and has been trained to wait for the door to close and the cue to begin eating before starting his meal.
Chevy is looking forward to meeting his new family soon, is it you? If you think you may be right for Chevy, please fill out an adoption application now and come meet him.

Speckles is a young, playful and energetic girl looking for an adventurous forever family to call her own. She's smart, social and friendly!
Here is some additional information about Speckles:
- VERY Smart and very lovable
- Acts like a puppy: gets in to everything and wants everything in her mouth!
- She is smart enough to know when she is being called, stubborn enough to make you ask 2x's but does come when you call her
- She is a joy with the resident dogs, doesn't take their warnings very seriously, but is not too bold so as to annoy the other pups
- Has not shown much interest in the resident birds, so we suspect (so far) not a real strong prey drive
- LOVES the neighbor kids, would do great in a home with children
If you would like to know more about Speckles and our adoption process, put in an application today!

Zoe is a happy 10-month old puppy who loves life and shows it by wagging her tail most of the time. She gets along well with most all other dogs and is well acclimated to life with children whom she seems to love and is gentle with. She loves water sports and has been spotted side-stroking across her foster parent's pool on more than one occasion. When the pool is not an option, she is just as pleased to run through the sprinklers with the kids.
This is a dog who is best described as someone who is simply happy to be alive. Zoe loves playing catch and tug-of-war when the opportunity presents itself, otherwise, she is satisfied to cuddle with her people or just sit on the floor next to them.
Zoe is available for adoption now and is reviewing applications as they come in. If you'd like to meet Zoe, the first step is to fill out the adoption application by clicking the link below.

Ernie is a new addition to LCAL, so we are still learning about him. On the energy scale from 1 to 10, Ernie clocks in at an even 5. He is a friendly, social fellow who gets along well with other dogs and has no preference between men and women. He has been observed around children and does well with them enjoying tugging and squeezing play. He loves being near people and enjoys cuddling and lap time with his folks.
Ernie walks well on the leash preferring to keep by your right hand side, understands sit, stay and likes playing fetch. We are working on down and stay.
His foster parents report:
"He plays well 10 to 15 minutes at a time several times per day and walks about 15 to 20 minutes 3 to 4 times a day. Short potty stops frequently since he is new to the environment."
Ernie recently participated in an adoption event at the American Red Cross where he basked in the attention of attendees all the while keeping a sharp eye on his foster mom in case it looked like she was going to wander off. Ernie is a prince and wants to do well. He has the sweet and smart personality of a Shih Tzu along with the lovely coat of a Poodle. He will be a beautiful dog when his hair grows out."
Ernie currently exhibits no anxiety or bad behavior.
If you'd like to meet Ernie, please fill out an application by clicking the link below.

Curly is a typical, healthy adolescent pup who is about as ideal as he can get. His small cash & carry size means he's able to go with you just about everywhere.
On the activity scale between 1 and 10, Curly clocks in at a solid 5, is house trained, gets along with other dogs and has a healthy respect for cats whom he typically steers clear of but also lives well with (his foster family includes two other dogs + one skeptical cat).
Curly has settled into his new foster home very nicely, his foster parent is happy and impressed with his good behavior and manners in the household. He is a very relaxed dog who likes to hang out with his people and receive affection. He will lay or sit nearby his person while they work or do whatever, follows his person around and responds well when his name is called. His energy level is pretty neutral and if you're relaxing, he's relaxing, if you're up and moving, so is he.
We have not yet had Curly around children during his time at LCAL and have no prior info on this, however he is very social with humans so we suspect he would do well in a home with kids. More on this as he continues to unpack with us.
Curly is a huge love, super sweet and snuggly who seeks out attention as much as he gives it. He will spontaneously take himself to bed at night, and sometimes, in the early morning, Curly manages to slither into his foster's bed undetected and fall asleep under the covers.
Curlys foster parent says the person or family who adopts Curly will be very lucky indeed.
Even though he is a new arrival, Curly is already reviewing adoption applications so if you are interested in meeting him to see if he might be a match for you and your family, be sure to fill out an application by clicking the link below and we'll set up a meeting for you.

Brie is a 1 and a half year old female Boxer/Pit mix who was found as a stray. She is currently living in a foster home where her foster parents say she is housetrained, crate trained and social with people. Brie is currently living with two other dogs and children and loves to go on walks and play fetch.
Brie enjoys being out on walks with her people and believes strongly that her role is to run after bunnies she encounters on these excursions. She seems to have an affinity to children although we have only seen how she is with kids over the age of five whom she behaves quite well with. We are not yet sure how she would do with other age groups. Her activity level on a scale from one to ten is seven.
Brie is a cuddly girl, lover her walks and playing with her toys. She enjoys playing fetch and will spontaneously go to her crate when she feels the need to hang out on her own.
We are currently working on trust issues with Brie, as well as not jumping up on people, and her apprehension over people who wear hats.
Brie is a sweet girl who is ready to take your application if you believe yours may be the family to embrace her in her new life. If this is the case, please click the link below and fill out an adoption application to start the ball rolling.

Dodger is a young, 1.5 year old adolescent. He's the perfect size for all occasions, many refer to him as 'cash and carry' because size is not a reason to leave him at home - he can go everywhere with you!
He seems to be friendly with all dogs, and is currently in a foster home with several others where he has managed to integrate himself exceptionally well. When Dodger comes across another dog, he wants nothing more than to say hello and play.
Dodger is trusting with humans and so far, has no issues getting along with anyone. We are still learning how he gets along with children though, and will keep this profile page up to date as he continues to unpack with us.
This dog is a real sweetheart who lavishes affection on whoever is around him. He LOVES playing with stuffed toys, especially if it has a squeaker and enjoys playing tug and fetch. Also, he’s a certified cuddle bug!
Although Dodger is a new arrival here at LCAL, he is already reviewing adoption applications as several have begun to arrive. Has he seen yours?
If you are interested in meeting this cheerful little guy, the first step is to click the link below and fill out an application.

Aspen was recently rescued into foster care after being found on the loose in a local county park. She is an active, fun loving adolescent pup, ready to go as soon as she wakes up in the morning. Aspen is described by her foster mom as having a slight build, and "soooo full of personality, all packed in a petite little body". On a scale of 1 to 10, Aspen's energy level is 7.
She is currently thriving in a home with multiple dogs that rotate through on their way in to foster care and out for adoption. One of her favorite co-fosters is Estelle, who rarely misses the opportunity to snatch Aspens' hind leg when it comes within range as Aspen walks past. This indignity typically triggers an extended wrestling event until they flop to the floor together in a state of exhaustion.
She also loves her foster mom's dog Hazel whom she will tail everywhere. When outside, the two run as fast as they can up the hill in the back yard, check the perimeter and then gradually make their way back down, closely inspecting everything of interest along their return. Clearly it would be ideal for Aspen to find a home with at least one other dog in it as she excels in an environment with canine companionship.
She is very curious about cats and it appears as if she would run after them if given the opportunity. However, we have not done much testing in this regard.
We are working on teaching Aspen not to bark at people and other dogs when she is on leash or in the car, a behavior typical in working dogs like her, but one that can be corrected with basic training methods. She is also grappling with the concept of not getting on furniture without an invitation, but is doing better with this.
Aspen is crate trained which may be used when no one is home, although she is well behaved on the loose in the house on these occasions as well. She responds well to the command to sit and hold, and we are working on 'stay'. She is good at taking treats politely, absolutely loves children, and has been spotted sneaking into bed with them on multiple occasions.
If you are interested in adopting a dog with a rich personality and a good sense of humor, Aspen could be the one for you. She is currently reviewing applications so please click below and submit yours today if you feel you could be a good match for her.

Baxter is a handsome, sweet dog who has learned many skills including “sit”, “down” and staying in his “place” when told by his people. He loves his people and truly wants to please them.
As with many of our dogs, he benefits from slow introductions and would thrive in a home with a private yard to run and play with his family, without the distraction of neighbor dogs or people he does not know.
This gorgeous pup needs consistent routine and guidance from someone willing to spend time training to help him adjust to new situations and be his best dog self.

Abby is a sweet Labrador Retriever mix who gives unlimited love and cuddles to her people. She was rescued by LCAL having recently sustained injuries from a car accident. At the time she was unable to bear weight on her left fore-limb and was clearly in discomfort, yet still managed to get around very well.
Since then, Abby has received physical therapy for this injury and is now able to put weight on her foot and walk on the underwater treadmill. We have seen phenomenal improvement over a relatively short period - she is determined.
Abby lives in a foster home with another dog and they are great friends. She does well with most dogs and loves playing and interacting with them after a proper introduction.
Abby has blossomed under the care of our foster team and has gained confidence with children demonstrating patience, gentleness and tolerance with ages 2, 4, and 6 yrs old.
She is house trained, kennel trained and rides well in a car. As with most of our dogs, Abby will benefit most in an environment of patience and careful trust-building in her new home.

Princess is a lovely young girl full of excitement and playfulness. She has fully recovered from a recent surgery and is now ready for immediate adoption! Her energy level is 8 on a scale of 1 - 10, and she loves playing with other dogs, especially her BFF foster sister, Tulip.
Princess clearly gets along well with other dogs, likes most people and seems to prefer men slightly more than women. We have not yet tested her with children and cats, but she does enjoy a good bunny chase in the back yard when the opportunity presents itself.
Princess is housetrained, but like any other dog, needs and enjoys getting out on walks each day and being taken on stimulating excursions to get new experiences under her belt.
We are still learning about this fun loving little pup and will update our notes here as she develops further. In the meantime, Princess has her spectacles on and is reviewing adoption applications so if you would like to explore further and possibly set up a meeting with her, please click the link below and fill out an application. She would love to meet you!

Dudley is a favorite of his foster family and the rest of us here at LCAL. Initially he was tentative with the foster family’s cats, but quickly got used to them and became good friends with them. He walks well on leash and sometimes gets excited and wants to play with other dogs he meets along the way.
We are taking specific steps to help him develop confidence and have immediately seen positive results due to his strong desire to please his humans. At this point he seems a bit unsure about smaller, fast moving kids whom he handles ok, but tends to back away from. This is another area we feel he will adjust to as he gains confidence.
His foster mom writes:
“Overall, he's really a great dog... He's really smart and wants to please his humans so, he's responsive to correction. He's definitely a praise driven dog. He is honestly one the best dogs that I have ever fostered/had. He has a great demeanor and thinks he's probably about 10 pounds so he will sit directly on your lap. Dudley is a big goofball who loves to be loved and have fun.”
Dudley is pretty gentle with his toys and not so enthusiastic about playing fetch or tug of war. As you can see from his photo gallery, he is an easy going kind of guy whom we rank at 5 out of 10 on the activity scale.
Dudley walks well on his leash, understands ‘down’ and will spend time in his crate when he wants to take a nap or just be by himself.
He is calm and sweet, loves attention, is cuddly and just wants to please people most of the time. His foster parents report that they cleaned out his ears recently for which he simply held still and put up with it without objection. He likes to play, but he is also happy to curl up next to you to read a good book.
Dudley is a real score for the right family and will bring years of love and laughter to their home. Are you the family Dudley is waiting for? If you feel you might be a good match, please click the application link below and schedule a meeting to see if you are a fit for one another.

Delta is currently in foster where she lives alongside 3 young children, ages 2-8 and two cocker spaniels who also live in the home. Delta is significantly overweight and her fosters are currently working on addressing this

Max is a sweet, perky little Maltese interested in new situations and ready to go when you are. He’s relaxed, friendly and upon the very first intro with new people has no problem going right up to say hello. On a scale of 1 to 10, Max's energy level is 5.
This dog is new to us so we are still learning about him, but here are some remarks from our kennel staff the day Max was added to our crew:
"When he was dropped off at the rescue Max went ahead and gave himself a tour as I followed behind. He went into every single room to check it out and then took himself to explore our outdoor area and right away used our potty pit. He’s great on walks, loves walks really, he gets a little pep in his step and trots along making sure to check out every bush.
Max is easy going and quickly became my buddy for the day. He liked following me around anywhere I went and when given the chance, hopped into my lap and took a nap. Oh and he loves being pet, if you stop he’ll gently rest his head on you or tap you with his paw politely asking for more."
Max is reviewing applications now, so if you think he may be a good fit for your family, please click below to start the ball rolling. The first step is simply fact-finding to see if there could be a match, no obligation.

Casey is a 7 year old boxer who, according to his foster mom, is fully house trained, knows basic commands and has a typical boxer personality.
When Casey first went into his foster home, he immediately hit it off with his boxer foster sister! Casey is still new to us so the jury is out on how he will do with the resident cat at his foster home - so far so good.
Casey walks well on leash and has learned to 'sit' on command as he is very food motivated. He also has behaved responsibly when left alone in the house with the other boxer.
Casey loves everyone but we are working on developing boundaries with people as he tends to jump up and get in their space due to a strong desire to snuggle with them.
If you would like to meet Casey, we encourage you to click and fill out an adoption application below.

Laney is a Puggle mix with an activity level of 2 on a scale of 1 to 10. She gets along well with cats, dogs and children and is house trained provided she has access to the outdoors.
She is crate trained and happily sleeps in hers overnight (approx 9 pm - 7 am). She also goes in the crate for short stretches while we are out (up to a few hours).
Laney loves going on walks and is able to keep up with a typical family for several miles without problem. She is also fine if she doesn't get regular walks and is happy just being part of the family.
One of Laney's favorite activities is snuggling up next to you, snoring gently on a nice long nap. She also enjoys dressing up and gets excited when a sweater is produced for her to try on.
Laney's foster family take her everywhere they go and she enjoys each excursion. She is the perfect cash-and-carry size although she is not considered super small either.
Laney's foster parent states:
"Laney is a senior, but I've never seen that slow her down. She's delighted to get out for walks. She easily jumps into our car and is happy to go anywhere we go. She drives the kids to school and joins us anywhere dogs can go!"
We always ask our foster parents to tell us about things the dog avoids or doesn't like, but so far, they've come up with nothing in this category for Laney.
Laney is waiting patiently for her permanent family to arrive, could it be you? If you think you could be a match for Laney, please click the link below and fill out an application to meet her.

Meet Gidget, or Gigi for short! Gigi is a 2 year old female boxer who came into our rescue very underweight. LCAL was fortunate enough to find this sweet girl a foster home immediately, where her foster family is working to safely plump her up to a healthy weight and provide her with love that she's always deserved.
Gigi's foster family reports that she is house trained and very food motivated. Her fosters are working to help crate train Gigi and report that she is doing well and will even eat in her crate!
Gigi is energetic but calms nicely and loves to snuggle up next to her canine and human foster family. Gigi's foster parents say that she is your typical wiggly boxer who is friendly, cuddly and overall a joy to have around!
If you would like to know more about Gigi or meet her, we encourage you to click the link below and fill out an adoption application. Our team will get back to you quickly!

At this point she is still settling in and isn't yet interested in toys preferring to keep close tabs on her people by lying near/on them instead. She is a treat motivated dog who walks well on leash and enjoys exploring the world around her.
She is still new to us and we are learning more about her each day. If you think you might be a good candidate for adopting Boba, please click the link below and submit your application today, she'd love to hear from you.

Carmela came to us frightened of most things with her crate being the only place she felt safe. With help, she has gone from spending most of the time in her crate to confidently exploring her environment. On a scale of 1 to 10, Carmela's energy level is 4.
She is house broken and will bark at the door to let you know she needs to go out. She is hard of hearing, but has a basic understanding of hand gestures suggesting she “come” or “go in this direction.” She has warmed up to both dogs and humans. Her foster mother describes her as being sweet and a little love.
Carmela has a mischievous streak and enjoys making her foster mom chase after her, on occasion.
Carmela allows her foster mother to pet and love on her and will allow those she does not know to pet her. When she is fearful she can become mouthy. Carmela walks well on a leash.
She gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home and enjoys frisky playtime with them when possible. She also likes cuddling up with them too.
Carmela is looking for a calm, patient adopter who will spend time with her and continue to help her build her confidence. If you feel you could be a good match for Carmela, please click the link below and fill out an application to come meet her.

Captain is a corgi mix who walks well on a leash, understands 'sit', 'down' and 'go to bed'. He is crate trained and does well in it for 3 to 4 hours at a time. He also likes to use it as his den when he wants to be by himself. On a scale of 1 to 10, Captain's energy level is 5.
Captain was shy in the beginning, but with a little patience and time has warmed up to his foster family and their dog very well. He likes attention from his people and once he has built trust, will roll onto his side and invite belly petting. He loves to be next to his foster sister whom he watches closely and learns from.
He loves to go on walks where he enjoys watching bunnies run past. He also seems to enjoy rolling on the rocks and bushes along the way.
Captain is food motivated and loves pretty much all types of food and treats.
If you think you might be a good match for Captain, please click the link below and fill out an application to come meet him. He's ready to make your acquaintance!

Candy is a happy, young dog who likes being by your side and going wherever you do. She gets along with other dogs and enjoys her chew toys. She is crate trained and will wait patiently to be let out when her foster family returns home. She will use it as her den and spontaneously take naps in it throughout the day. On a scale of 1 to 10, Candy's energy level is 6.
Candy knows how to play fetch, shake hands (if there is something she really wants) and runs well on leash. She becomes very excited when playing with her foster family, often gets the "zoomies", but is much calmer once she lets it out of her system.
Candy's foster parent states:
"She likes to collect things and takes them to her crate; it could be a toy or shoe, if left out. She won't destroy them, just collects them. So if something goes missing, it's most likely in her crate!"
Candy is very young and still has some puppy behaviors. For example, she is working on not being "nippy" when getting excited. She is highly food motivated so modifying behaviors like this is easy.
She also loves taking naps with her people and is known to give gentle kisses to those she particularly cares about. She is an easygoing dog who likes meeting new people and going places with her humans.
Candy is currently reviewing applications for her permanent family and would love to meet you if you think you might be right for her. If so, please click the link below and fill out an application to come meet her soon.

Bailey just arrived at LCAL and we are still getting to know her, but so far she made a great impression! She came in selectively shy, loving some humans while being nervous around other people. With a little time, she will love you too! She warms up quickly, once you show her you're safe. She is great with other dogs, but needs some work on sharing. She is very funny and dramatic once she comes out of her shell!

Wesley is a beautiful 11 month old Doberman Pinscher (mix) with lovely markings and a silky smooth coat. For such a young boy, he is remarkably well behaved and has proven to be quite trainable too.
He connects well with his humans and seems like a stereotypical 'Velcro' Doberman Pinscher, sticking by your side wherever you go.
Wesley has had a number of interactions with other dogs, all of which have gone well and ended with everyone playing together nicely. He has also been around numerous young children and babies to whom he responds appropriately.
We are working with him on his loose-leash walking ability which is progressing rapidly since he has a strong desire to please and is food motivated. He is slightly timid and needs reassurance to do things like hop up into the car or go into his crate at bedtime, but each day these things are easier for him (Note: after two days in foster, he now hops in the car without issue).
He likes chew-toys and is easily redirected to these objects when intercepted with shoes, parts of our holiday decorations or other contraband. True to his breed, Wesley is a working dog and will blossom in an active home environment where his energy is properly channeled and his intelligence challenged.
Basically, Wesley is an extremely bright yet behaviorally typical 11 month old puppy who, with continued, proper guidance from his humans, will develop into an awesome companion for the right family.
If you think you could be that family, please click the link below and fill out an application to come introduce yourself to this wonderful canine friend - he's waiting to meet you!

Buddy has lots of puppy energy! He's fun, playful and loves when his humans toss his toys around. Buddy is very sweet, affectionate and overall a great dog. He's very social and enjoys playing with other dogs. He's got the making of a wonderful family dog with his patience and playfulness! Buddy may be part horse however, with his high stepping trot and graceful gallop.
Buddy would make an awesome family dog or bachelor dog, he would love nothing more to be apart of an active family!

Olive has only just arrived, so we are still learning about her. So far, Olive is an absolute sweetheart! She is great on walks, loves her lobby time where she can gather all her toys in a giant pile and is even content laying on a dog bed next to our kennel leads desk. She is incredibly sweet and gives the absolute best hugs! As with all of our dogs, we will update her profile every time we learn something new. Until then, if you would like to speak to a staff member about Olive, put in an application and our team will look forward to getting back to you!

What a very sweet girl phoebe is. She's only just arrived so we are still learning about her, but so far she is such a doll! She is great just hanging out next to her people, though she isn't a fan of them leaving and will squeak to let you know you forgot her. She just needs to learn we're not leaving her for real! Loves pets and treats!

Cabana and eight of his litter mates were flown to LCAL by a ‘rescue angel’ who saved them from a dog rescue in the Bahamas.
Cabana has been living with his foster parents since his arrival in San Diego and loves life. Since being with LCAL, he has grown into a happy, warm and fun-loving fellow who loves nothing more than bubbles, belly rubs and his turn jumping on the trampoline with the kids.
His past life in the Bahamas is evident in his laid back attitude toward life, at least until he spots someone heading to the kitchen, in which case he will be sure to zoom in first, just in case something tasty might be in store for him. He's still a young, growing boy.
He is fully house (potty) trained, loves kids, enjoys quality hugs and kisses and has learned to sit and shake hands. Cabana is through the chewing stage now and enjoys companionship and playtime with the other dogs in his household.
Cabana is described by his foster parents as a good boy, a sweet, adolescent puppy always available for attention. He is adventurous and has the puppy curiosity that leads him either to his next adventure or just laying on the couch next to you.
Cabana is unconcerned about loud noises such as the vacuum. He is treat motivated and likes his crate at night. He is a good friend and a very smart, quick-learning, easy to train fellow. He's a jewel waiting for the right family to come see him.

A very friendly guy! Hershey's a peach! Loves playing fetch, tug, and getting the zoomies. He is just the right level of outgoing to make himself at home in record time! Hershey has a BLAST roughhousing with dogs his own size! He's a water hound who is always ready for a hose! He is also a miraculous singer, though it doesn't seem his foster parents get to experience his full vocal range. What a loveable boy!

Annie is a sweet, wiggly, cuddly and gentle girl who seems to love all people wanting to spend as much time with them as she can.
She has done well in a foster home, sharing it with another dog and a cat which has worked out without any problems.
She has shown signs of separation anxiety which her foster family is helping her to overcome. Annie will need a patient home to help her get settled, feel safe, and slowly build the confidence in her new home.
Currently Annie is doing well in her efforts to become crate trained and in learning that her crate is a safe quiet refuge and not something to be afraid of.
Annie is fully house trained, gets along well with dogs and cats and would thrive in an environment where her people are normally at home (retired, work from home, etc).
Her foster family has said Annie is basically the perfect dog and just so sweet!

LCAL transferred Rory after she was hit by a car and brought to her local shelter. Upon intake at LCAL, Rory was immediately brought to the ER, where she received surgery on her front leg. She is currently in a foster and recovering well!
Here is a note from her foster!
Rory is 8+ weeks from surgery on her front right leg. She is the most patient of patients! She finally has her cast and all bandages off and her final wound is healing. She has a kind nature, is super curious but very strong and will do great with some training. She has really begun to show a snuggly side, she loves having her face rubbed with a towel and wants to be wherever her human is. She is super affectionate, gets along great with her foster brother who is 2 and about 40 lbs smaller than she is. She likes to tease him by stealing his toys and stockpiling them in her crate.
Speaking of crates she is completely crate trained and has even started going in on her own. She sleeps for 10-12 hours per night but will wake you up if she needs to relieve herself in the middle of the night.
Because of her size and her leg injury she might do best in a home without stairs. She is getting stronger every day and is a couldn't waiting to no longer need her cone.
She is an incredible girl who loves all humans and just wants attention and affection!

There is not enough positive things we can say about Miss Katy! This girl is incredibly affectionate and adores her people! She can be shy and timid at first, but allow her to approach and come out of her shell on her own terms and it is oh so worth it! Katy just arrived at LCAL, we look forward to updating her profile as we learn more about her! Did we mention she's a fantastic hugger?

Meet Dozer! Dozer is a sweet Boxer boy that came to LCAL after being found under a Bulldozer by a local family. The family that found him reported that he was really sweet in their home. They also reported he did well with their small dog. In his intake exam, Dozer was found to have a heart murmur. Before adoption he will receive an echocardiogram so we have more information about his long term health needs. We will keep everyone updated on Dozer as we get to know him better.

Tigger is a lovely active dog who lived most of her life in a loving home with a couple who were devoted to her care. Unfortunately due to health issues they were unable to care for her, so she came to us and went right into a foster home.
Her foster siblings are both large and small, but no matter the size, she likes to cuddle up and snuggle in the same bed with all of them (she is very dog friendly). She also loves doing the same with her people whom she is eager to please.
She is crate trained and satisfied with sleeping in one but she absolutely loves to cuddle and will do it all day long if given the chance!
Tigger is also surprisingly active for a senior—her foster mom recently took her on a long hike and she did not want to sit in the wagon they brought for her, she wanted to keep on walking!
Tigger has a history of pancreatitis which is totally under control with Hill’s prescription I/D food and treats. She cannot eat anything else, but she loves her food and treats! Her foster mom freezes balls of the canned food as treats and she loves it. She’s very easy to please and happy as long as she’s with her family.
Her foster families have commented that she is just the best girl and so easy!
Please note: Tigger needs to be in a home committed to supporting her dietary needs to make sure her pancreatitis stays well controlled.

Ruger is an absolute sweetheart with an endless amount of love and affection to give. He's a gentle boy who loves nothing more than to be relaxing right next to his people and enjoying the good life he always deserved. Ruger came to LCAL emaciated and during this time our team is working hard to safely help this boy get to a healthy weight. Stay tuned for updates as we learn more about this handsome guy

What a Rae of sunshine. Rae is a high energy Husky mix that would thrive in an active household with room to run! She loves playing fetch and could always go for a lounge in the pool. She's a water dog for sure! She is a smart girl that could benefit from consistent enrichment. She's doing well in her foster home, but is definitely a puppy!

What a gorgeous boy! He's a very friendly guy with a little shyness at first. He trusts easily and loves to just hang out. Still getting to know Romeo so we will update soon!

Bert is a shy but such a sweet boy! He is pretty nervous and gains confidence from other dogs, and right now that's his BFF Ernie! Bert is timid but loves being close to humans. He would do wonderful in a home with patient and gentle humans who might even have a little dog to be his buddy! He has been so sweet ever since arriving and has been getting braver by the day! He'd make an adorable addition to your household!

Ernie is a spunky little guy who isn't afraid to come over and say hi! He arrived at LCAL with his buddy Bert whom he currently shares a kennel with very well. However, Bert is a bit of an attention hog preferring all petting is focused on him.
He does well with Bert and would likely be great with another similar dog at home. He loves to just hang out and have affection loaded on him.

Coconut and eight of his litter mates were flown to LCAL by a ‘rescue angel’ who saved them from a dog rescue in the Bahamas. He and his brother Cabana are in foster care together and have been growing steadily since May/2022 and are ready for adoption!
Coconut is quiet and shy at first but is a sweet, easy going puppy who lives with many dogs in his foster home and gets along with everyone there. Coconut has really come out of his shell in his foster home and loves getting attention from his humans and fur siblings alike.
He will follow you around like a shadow at all times. He likes to give hugs but does not cuddle for long periods. He likes to jump on the trampoline and doesn't mind being in the pool. He likes to give kisses to the other dogs. He is a more mellow puppy energy-wise when in the home. He does not like the vaccuum one bit!
He got a little overwhelmed at his first event and was barking quite a bit, but with training and exposure could do great in busy places with time.
He is treat motivated and likes his crate at night. He is well potty trained and very smart.
Coconut would do well in pretty much any environment due to his easy going personality.
